Absent this regulation, motorists would no longer be required to drill into their bumpers and would ultimately save the state money on production costs - even factoring in the $100 fine currently in place for those who do not follow the law.

One other disadvantage to the license mount is that you have to remove it to remove the Zunsport center grill cover.NJ currently requires two license plates on each registered vehicle. After that, I've never not had a front plate. I thought I was going to jail! He cited me for no front plate only. He pulled away slowly and then immediately lit them up. IL state police car was parked at the stop sign.a lonnnggg time while I waited behind. I had been running triple digits, came to a little unincorporated area with a couple buildings and a 4-way stop. I got pinched for no front plate while driving my '95 M3 when it was about a year old. Ah, these 1st world problems can be so worrisome! One other disadvantage to the license mount is that you have to remove it to remove the Zunsport center grill cover. I do like the idea of a plate holder where you drill holes in the bottom of the nose so it won't show. I tried it 1 season with the M3 and decided never again.

My '06 was driven thru 10 winters up here with no corrosion issues at all. I drive my cars one day per week, at least, all winter. Aesthetics are nice without it, but I don't feel that the front plate ruins it. I usually keep sports cars 10 years.) I just bite the bullet and do it. I have the normal front plate mount on all 3 of the Porsches I've had in my garage in the past year. I am thinking to add some supports behind the license plate secured with double sided tape to prevent the plate from vibrating a lot at high speeds.Ĭlick to expand.I got pinched for no front plate while driving my '95 M3 when it was about a year old. I could (and still can by tilting the plate until it touches) but I wanted to avoid touching so as not to scratch the lip. Notice that I didn't touch the bottom of the front lower lip. If you want to maintain the ability to move the plate up to partly cover the bumper, be aware of the bumper lip, which might be in the way. You can adjust the height of the plate up or down. Good enough for Government work, unless you are OCD.įor the OCDs, you may wish to cut a plate substitute out of stiff(ish) plastic, so that you can conform the bumper contour better. I didn't and as a result the right bracket in the photo is 1/8" out towards the front because the bumper is slightly curved in the middle. In hindsight, I should have asked for my wife's help when aligning the brackets front to back. There are two little screw holes on the upper side of the faux air intake of the Cayman S (this will not work for the GTS). I chose the position below the lip of the bumper for (my) aesthetic reasons. I apologize, but I didn't think to take photos while installing (it is pretty straightforward).

I installed yesterday the Skene Design license plate holder. It won't happen, because legally it can't happen. We're talking about a traffic citation, which is below a Class C misdemeanor. That's why, if you have a car with window tint darker than another state allows, that other state can't cite you for it unless you license that car in that other state. That's why you can smoke weed to your heart's content somewhere such as Colorado, even though you're domicile is in, say, Texas, where possession and consumption are still illegal. That's why those with an arrest warrant in one state can move to another state and not worry nearly as much about being tracked or pursued - extradition is required, and extradition is purely a courtesy between state agencies. That's the premise for why things like concealed weapon licenses don't transfer from state to state unless an agreement is reached among individual states to allow them. That's the whole premise of 'crossing the state line' if the laws you've broken are state laws. That's about as cut-and-dried as it gets. LEOs in one state don't have jurisdiction to cite for the laws of another state.
